Coldplay has been on my Bucket List for the longest time.
I remember when I was a teenager my sister and I spoke about going to see Coldplay one day and how amazing it would be to experience it. Right, so I did go but not with my sister - I know, the worst sister award going to me but honestly I don’t think she minded too much. She just didn’t talk to me for several days.
Let’s go back to the day I purchased the tickets! I booked the morning off work because I knew that I would do anything to get the tickets to see one of my favourite bands in my home city. Login to Ticket Master - I was literally like 7 thousand in the queue. I was giving up at home until… my boyfriend was like ‘omg I am through, I am through, come here’. I ran across the room, my heart pounding with excitement. One. Two. Three. Click. Not only were we going to see Coldplay! We also had VIP tickets.
Then we sat there still very excited but reality hit us. We are going to have to wait a year. I can’t bear to wait.
A year passes and it’s Coldplay day. I booked the day off work and we went to Cardiff on the train. Everyone in Coldplay merch, everyone in neon - a casual day in Cardiff City… maybe.
My partner and I were right at the front - actually I was 99 and he was number 100. There was a super fan (who was number one) going up and down the queue giving us our number and persisting that we did the Mexican Flag, I joined in of course.
After being in the queue for hours we were moving very slowly into what was another queue! After being in the queue for about an hour we were in the Principality Stadium. My partner and I rushed to the front - omg even writing that makes me feel crazy! But, we did get the best play in the stadium.
A few hours and a support act later, Coldplay graced my life.
They sang all of the classics - Yellow, Paradise, Viva La Fricken Vida!
Ohh, I thought my heart was so full until Chris Martin called up Kelly Jones. The audience went wild! I went wild. If you are uncultured and do not know who Kelly Jones is then I am shocked! Kelly Jones is the singer and guitarist of Stereophonics, who are a Welsh band.
After I finished crying with excitement - Kelly Jones was singing Dakota with Chris Martin. It was such a perfect moment.
The concert ended not long after this moment of bliss but you know what, I had the best night of my life even if I did have to walk over two miles to get back to the Air bnb.
Until next time. “Time is on your side.”– Coldplay
